Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team |
||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope this finds you well
✅ News from Your Local Policing Team ✅
Officers from our Neighbourhood team have been patrolling Highgate park after we’ve received calls about people driving around the park on quad bikes, this kind of behaviour is dangerous to our community especially as we have many families who access the park to enjoy the green spaces in our community. If you see Anti-social behaviours or illegal activity please report to us using our 101 telephone service, online chat or in emergencies, 999. Please give us as much description as possible to help us tackle these crime.
We continue our high visibility patrols in Small Heath and around the Coventry Road areas, if you see members of the team out on patrol, come and say hi, it’s great to meet our community members.
We held a “Cuppa with a Copper” event at the community room in Storrs close, it was lovely to meet some of the local residents and share some crime prevention tips.
This week we have also “detained” a dog for cuteness!! The young pup was found weaving in and out of live line traffic on a very busy dual carriageway, our officers managed to coax the dog into a safe place where they conducted searches into who owned the dog. Sadly, the dog had no microchip and wasn’t wearing an identity tag. Our officers managed to find a vet who was able to offer the dog a warm home for the night and some much needed dinner. ✅ Crime Prevention Tips: We have seen more reports of Theft from Motor vehicle recently.
Please follow the below advice that can also be found on our website.
The five golden rules to keep your vehicle safe
1. Park in well-used and brighter locations Vehicles parked in dark and less busy areas are more liable to be damaged or broken into because the suspect cannot easily be seen by anyone; it’s always advisable to park somewhere that’s well-lit and where people are walking and there is likely to be passing traffic. The busier the better, as a rule. 2. Hide your stuff away Leaving items of value in plain view can encourage thefts, even leaving an empty bag, packaging or clothing could make an inquisitive mind wonder what is in there, is it worth a broken window for an empty plastic bag? If you can’t take the items with you, then hide them, store them under seats, in the glove box or in the boot of your vehicle. 3. Protect your windows Consider using clear security film. It really does strengthen the glass and leave minimum damage if someone tries to smash their way into your vehicle. 4. Pick your car park carefully The Safer Parking Scheme is a national standard that benchmarks the safety and security of car parks. A ‘Park Mark’ means the site has been assessed and vetted by the police. Check out the Park Mark website for more information and to find ‘marked’ car parks. 5. Make space If possible, when you park, try to leave some space between your car and other cars. It not only prevents accidental damage, it also means thieves or vandals are more likely to be seen. Your checklist When you park your vehicle, just follow these simple tips: don't leave anything of value in the car
